All Schools changed in the late 70s into comprehensive schools

King George V Boys Grammar School became King George V 6th form college in 1979 and last boys from the Grammar School left in 1982

Southport Girl’s Grammar School became Greenbank Girls School 1979

Stanley Secondary Modern for boys became Stanley School  for boys and girls in 1979

The single sex Meols Cop Secondary Modern Schools merged to become Meols Cop in 1979

Birkdale Secondary Modern became Birkdale Boys School in 1979

RC

Our Lady of Lourdes RC Secondary Modern School closed in the 1970s and became a primary school of the same name

Christ the King Secondary School opened in the 1970s not sure of actual or whether it was always a comprehensive school

Ainsdale School opened in the 1970s and closed 2006 ( I think)

I’ve the above list with aid of  local knowledge and books, Wikipedia and googling and just out of curiosity why you want to know!

Added

Just seen your last post

Where were they living as I can then tell you the most likely school?

OP = Original Poster

George Drive is in Ainsdale

Before the end of 1970s it would have depended on whether they passed the 11+
Boys who passed went to KGV
Girls who passed to Southport High
Rest Birkdale Secondary Modern

Late 1970s Ainsdale High School (can’t find opening date)

Catholics as given in my first post.

Primary School would probably have been Ainsdale St John C of E or Sacred Heart RC

There might have been another primary school built late 1970s early 1980s but I can’t find opening dates.

Have you tried Facebook? Aquick google found a Winfield who went to Ainsdale High.
