Who was the father
« on: Friday 03 July 20 16:13 BST (UK) »
Margaret Hassett age 4 years 6 months immigrated to Canada in 1924, her mother paid for the passage and states that she was ADOPTED and was born in Liverpool.
She was accompanied by Martha Maud Hasset.

They were destined to stay with Miss Fanny Henderson who lived in Toronto.
Martha was the sister of Fanny, Martha had married a William Hassett in 1914 he was killed in WW1 in 1918. So Martha was a widow when she went Canada

Margaret “Hassett” later married a Charles Jameson in Canada.

Was she really adopted she could had been the daughter of widow Martha and father unknown.
With no access to marriages and births in Canada I cannot find what her maiden name was entered.

The passenger list shows Martha as Henderson not  Hassett & without a middle name.  She was 70yrs old and last address was 1 Beattie St Bootle.

The 1914 marriage cert shows Martha Maude Henderson as 23 yrs old?

What was the name of the mother who paid her passage?

There was a Margaret B Henderson born in the first quarter of 1920 in West Derby Lancs where William A Hassett was married in 1914, so perhaps Martha had the child and registered it in her maiden name of Henderson. The only means of finding out would be to get the birth certificate.

I have attached the Declaration of Passenger to Canada for info.

Martha Henderson aged 70 was the mother of Martha Hassett.

I also could not find a birth of Margaret Hassett.

William A Hassett and Martha Maud Henderson were married at Emmanuel Church, Fazakerley, Liverpool.

I have the obituary for Margaret Jameson but it does not show her birth date only their children.

I cannot access the Canadian BMD's and my relation who is a descendant of Charles and Margaret Jameson is reluctant to apply for the due to family relations are a sore point. His sister has the documents.
His father was Roger Emerson Jameson the only son Charles and Margaret. I wonder were the names Roger and Emerson come from, was it connected to Margaret's father?
