Blacksmith at Misterton
« on: Saturday 04 July 20 20:46 BST (UK) »
Hi
Is there anyone on here who is from Misterton in Notts. I have a William Farr, Blacksmith in 1841. Located the Smithy on an old map not too far from the church but cannot seem to find it on google maps. Does anyone know if it is still there, maybe as a house now or where I cld possibly find a photo of it. Thanks
Gaynori

Have you walked "streetwalk"? There are 3 buildings on the road that match old maps. Also, google maps aerial view reveals "Old Forge Close" running behind those buildings.
Which one was the forge/smithy is anybody's guess.

Hi I have never heard of street walk.

Where I think it is is behind a PO or pub on old maps. Thought someone local would know whether it had been converted or knocked down. Can't find a photo of it anywhere  >:(

I'll keep looking.
Thanks Gaynori

Apologies - it's "Streetview" not "Streetwalk" - another senior moment!

Thanks I'll look at that. The good news is that Notts archive have a photo of family (not mine) stood outside of the blacksmiths. A bit later date but I doubt it changed much over the years. Yipee. Gaynori
