A Peg jobber?
« on: Sunday 05 July 20 18:52 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

My ancestor was described as a 'dealer' in the Fitzwilliam estate records of 1839. He was then described as a 'peg jobber' in 1848, 1850 and just a jobber in 1868. What kind of job was a 'dealer' and 'peg jobber' at this time in Wicklow?

Hanna, Donoghue, Johnson, Williams, Glackin, Bradley, Fenlon, Carroll, McGinley, Haughey, Holmes, Cross

Dealer can just mean that but peg jobber,I wonder if he made those wooden clothes pegs that many years ago travellers used to peddle from door to door but some could be bought in shops.
Just a thought .

"   JOBBER - a buyer in quantity to sell to others, a pieceworker "

             I think Pegs.
