I always order PDF copies now, for family history they don't need to be certified copies.  They arrived as quickly as usual.

I think there is a problem with GRO anyway, apparently there are 1000s of births that haven't been registered since lockdown.  The registrar offices closed and are only just opening but appts. have to be made and they are starting to register the babies born last March.  So my g.grandson born late on Wednesday night, may not have his birth registered for some time.

The person who's tree I'm doing wants full certificates unfortunately.
The marriage certificate department us obviously less busy than the office that processes births and deaths. The marriage certificate arrived exactly on schedule on July 1st.

Upcraft (Bethnal Green)
Chidgey (Shoredtich)

You would think that they would want a copy from the actual Marriage register with original signatures rather than a GRO copy be it paper or PDF.  :)

Actually, I think it's a written copy of an entry.

Do you have to apply to the local register office for a copy of the original?

You may be interested in this post about a marriage cert from the GRO which differs from the PR entry
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=835201.

It is probably best to check with the register office as sometimes the marriage copy is a transcription done by them.

Thank you, I'll have a look.

I'm just sweating on the mother's name as my man was illegitimate.
