Help Sailed from Liverpool to Calcutta in 1931
« on: Monday 06 July 20 22:15 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if this is the right place to ask for help?

I am looking for information on Robert Thomas Oram (AKA Robert Oram) He was born in St Clements, Dundee, Scotland on 27th January 1884 to, James Oram and Mary Thoms. He married my Grandmother Charlotte Stewart Wallace, on 14th April 1922, in Dundee, Scotland.

On 3rd June 1922, he sailed from Liverpool Docks to, Calcutta, without his wife Charlotte. She was still alive. He sailed on the ship City of Cairo.

I cannot find any trace of Robert, after he sailed to, Calcutta, India.

I don't know what records are available in India, but, if anyone can help, on my request, no matter how small I would be truly grateful

TIA
Dave

Have you tried a search on FIBIS.org?
Families In British India Society.

FamilySearch also have records from India.

What happened to Charlotte? Are you descended from her marriage to Robert?

Are you sure you have the right man? That R T Oram was aged 33 per the passenger list - born say 1888/89.

Sorry folks, my mistake with his date of birth, it was 12th January1884. there is no mention of him in the Scottish records after he married my grandmother Charlotte.

I will check FIBIS org, as RGarrad suggested, and see if anything comes out of that
