Can anyone help with my tree?
« on: Tuesday 07 July 20 22:16 BST (UK) »
Hello All,

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. If I'm in the wrong place then please direct. I have been tracking my tree using ancestry for about a year. My confusion is coming from my maternal grandmother. She was born Hilda Oldham her mothers name Rolfe in 1929 and passed away in 1988. Now the confusion is she was born Oldham and died Grimshaw in the 1939 register oldham has been crossed out and grimshaw written in with the code NR230 KAA. TI cant find any marriages for her. Could anyone help shed any light on this. I thank you in anticipation.

Where was she born please?

Maybe she had a partner called Grimshaw and took his name, what about children ** - what surname were they under?

**please don't post full names of anyone who is or may be still living  :)

Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

She was a widow at death , of 57 Grove Avenue, Ovenden.

Cremated at Park Wood Crematorium, Elland (Halifax).

Person who did the paperwork was J A Cornish of Boothtown Halifax?
(I cannot find J... A... Cornish in other records)

Morning. She was born in Barnsley 16/06/1929. And passed away in Halifax 17/01/1988. Her children all have the name Sheldon but I know that she never married her childrens father. The person who did the paperwork on her death Mr Cornish was my late uncle through marriage.

grimshaw written in with the code NR230 KAA.

I think I'm right in saying that code NR230 refers to someone who changed their name by Deed Poll.
KAA is the area code for Barnsley.

Possible childrens births appear to be Grimshaw with mmn Oldham - Barnsley RD which ties in with adjustment area code on 1939 register.

Do you have any of the childrens birth certificates as they would give a fathers name.

There is a marriage - October 1956 - Manchester - Jean H C Oldham and Peter T V Grimshaw = Jean Hilary Christine and Peter Thomas Vivan at St Ann & St Mary, Manchester.

Firstly, welcome to Rootschat, Kastia.

There are certainly three Grimshaw births in Barnsley with MMN Oldham which you can look up yourself on  Familysearch. Cannot name them on here as they may still be alive.
