My grandmother told me that she may already have the marriage certificate, so fingers crossed I won't have to pay for a new copy.

The death notices are probably connected, the only thing odd about them is that it says Annie died in August, when in fact she definitely died in July.

The mother's death notice is strange however, as the only Greenwood I could find on genealogysa.org.au that died in South Australia in 1890 is a Mabel Isabel, but on findagrave it says she died in September, so I suspect that the mother mentioned in The Age may have died with a different last name.

New update:
I have now got the marriage certificate and it provides the following information about Charles Greenwood:
He was born c. 1863 in Cheapside, London, to Charles Greenwood and Annie Freebody. He worked as a packing case maker while Johanna was a box maker. His father was apparently a steamer captain.

The marriage certificate will be a good source of information in your research.  We need to use all the information.

Can you please list all the information on the certificate.....names, dates, occupations, ages, place names, church, witnesses.....everything please.

Hi all, thought I should update this thread as I have found a lot of new information.
Johanna died of TB in 1890, and the following year Charles, now going by Charlie, is a professional cyclist and marries Nellie Hahir. They have a daughter, Doris Leonia Nellie Greenwood. "Charlie" and Nellie divorce in 1904, apparently Nellie was pretending to be a widow and had relations with another man, John Henderson, to whom she was later married.

Charles then went on to marry Alice Jane Clotz in 1905. Newspaper articles indicate that their marriage was awful, with Charles neglecting Alice and suggesting that she should prostitute herself in order to make more money while he was out of work. They were divorced by the courts in 1916, though by that time Charles's whereabouts were not known. Perhaps he had gone to Tasmania, as it is said that he had apparently gone there at some point and died possibly in Hobart, though when exactly I don't know. Charles probably married again in Tasmania.

I have attached his marriage certificates to Nellie and Alice. They state that his father's name is not known, though when he married Johanna his father was called Charles. Another difference is that they say he was born in Queenstown, South Australia, though the minister recorded "South America" when he married Nellie, which I presume to be a spelling mistake.

Not sure where to go from here, as it doesn't look like there's much available online from Tasmania.
Cheers.
