Lorry Accident 1921 - trying to find more info.
« on: Thursday 09 July 20 11:55 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
I recently received a death cert for someone I suspected was my nan's older brother (none of the family knew of him).
It confirms that he was definitely her brother and that he was killed aged 15 by a motor lorry.
Call us all morbid but we are really intrigued to find out a bit more.. I've been searching the newspaper records as I was sure the death would have been in the paper, but I can't find anything.
According to death cert he died on 9 March 1921 in Poplar and the inquest was held on 12 March.
Can anyone give me some pointers on where else to search. As I've said I've been looking through the newspaper records on FindMyPast and have turned up nothing so far.
Any advice welcome =)

There are no surviving coroner’s records for the County of London in 1921.

Relatively few local London newspapers are online for this date, for this area I think only the East London Observer. Your best bet will probably be to contact Tower Hamlets Local Studies, where the staff are currently working, give them the details, and ask for a newspaper lookup.
