Apologies John, who is this in reference too? I see that John and Mary had a daughter Ann in around 1847 and a potential mother who was 80 in 1841.

I've only been researching my family tree for the past few months. I've mainly been using Ancestry hints and records from scotlandspeople.gov.uk. I also subscribed to archives.com/uk though I don't find it particularly easy to use and the English records seem to have less information to cross reference.  Do you have any tips?

Ancestry has quiet a few tips pending for me with regard to my extended family, though I've seemed to hit a roadblock with Alexander and Mary and back further.

Ann Roney death Sept 1844 aged 83 - Carlisle.  There is another March qtr 1842 but GRO is coming up with no trace so cannot establish her age

Death of an Ann Roney (of Carlisle) in 1842 in newspaper (Cumberland Paquet) has age of 27.
