This may be her in 1881
Kirknewton and East Calder Midlothian
Margaret Perrie    22 Widow born Paisley, Renfrewshire
Elizabeth Perrie 2 Paisley, Renfrewshire
Or more likely not, as Daniel Perrie was born when this Elizabeth Perrie was only 4 or 5 years old.

Quote
Could Elizabeth Perrie have gone to Dunoon to have her baby to hide her pregnancy?
Yes. Quite possible.

Surely the Dunoon address was her "usual residence"? If it wasn't, her usual address would have been give after her signature. Just a thought. She certainly stayed there from the 9th, when the child was born, until the 26th, when she registered him.

Following up on the census information supplied by Monica -

Extracts from the burial registers of Cambusnethan churchyard and cemetery.

PETER MANSON, works painter, abode - Craigneuk, aged 49 years, married.
Parents - George Manson & Margaret Menzies.
Interred in the old churchyard on 11th January 1908.

JESSIE MANSON, Glasgow Royal Infirmary, usual residence Craigneuk, aged 49 years, widow.
Parents - John Smith & Jeanie King.
Interred in the old churchyard on 31st March 1909.

GEORGE MANSON, general labourer, Wishaw, aged 88 years, widower.
Father - George Manson, mother unknown.
Interred in the old churchyard on 19th December 1906.

The Plot Book has the following information -

Plot owner (in Victorian times) was G. Manson.

List of interments (these records only begin around 1875).
MARGARET MANSON, aged 77 years, interred 25th February 1902.
GEORGE MANSON, aged 88 years, interred 19th December 1906.
JAMES MAIR, aged 84 years, interred 28th May 1896.
PETER MANSON, aged 49 years, interred 11th January 1908.
JESSIE MANSON, aged 49 years, interred 31st March 1909.

So, no Perrie surname to link Daniel to the mother's or grandmother's family.
When you checked for a subsequent marriage for Margaret, died you check other spellings?
For example "Perry".
Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.

There are poor relief claims on Ancestry for Peter Manson and his parents. (In the North Lanarkshire Collection of Poor Relief Claims).
Peter, in a claim made in May 1906, states he is suffering from epilepsy and also that his adopted son George "gets married next month". He has no children of his own, just the adopted son and daughter. His father George makes several claims, he was born in Cargill, Perthshire.

Daniel was with Peter and his wife from at least 1886, according to Peter's father's claim in that year.

Hi Lodger
I know Peter and Jessie both died in Wishaw around 1910 and did most of their ancestors. Really struggling to find anything on Elizabeth Perrie and where she was born etc. Thank you for the info on the poor relief records as that is new information for me.

Valuations - Dalserf in 1885 15 Raploch St. the only Elizabeth in all of Scotland.  She's surrounded by miners and shop keepers but she seems to be paying her own rent.  Did you look for her outside of Scotland.

There was a family of Perrie's in Wishaw too, it's not a common name. They had links with Fauldhouse in West Lothian (previously Linlithgowshire) and Burntisland in Fife. There seems to have been 2 brothers, Gideon and David, the father was John and the mother Jane Pender.
David died in Burntisland in 1899 aged 28 years, his wife died in Rutherglen aged 47 years, in 1916. They are all buried in Cambusnethan cemetery, Wishaw.

According to the poor relief claims there was an Elizabeth Perrie, described as "adopted daughter" who was 14 years old in 1893, she was living with Mrs Janet McDonald, a widow, at Shuttle Row, Blantyre, she had been a widow for 2 years. Could this be your Elizabeth?
(Shuttle Row was the birthplace of David Livingston the explorer).

Forgot to add, when David Perrie died in 1899 he is in the burial register as Pirrie.

Many of the Pirrie's in the poor relief claims are "Perry's".

Daniel Perrie was born in 1883. So his mother cannot have been born much later than say 1868, but let's say 1870. And she cannot have been born much before 1838. Let's say 1835.

There are just four Elizabeth Perries in the 1881 (LDS CD-ROM transcription) who are of an age to bear a child in 1883:

(Mrs) PERRIE OR DOWNIE   W   39    F   Keith, Banff, Scotland
   Rel:   Head

William PERRIE   U   18    M   Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland

   Occ:   Millworker
Elizabeth PERRIE   U   16    F   Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland
   Rel:   Dau
   Occ:   Millworker

As for which one is Daniel's mother, I have no opinion to offer. And if she is listed as Perry, Pirie or Pirrie in the census, or if she was in England/Wales/Ireland/elsewhere in 1881, the foregoing probably doesn't help.
