I think you will need to factor in the accent and its interpretation.  Who reported the death?  If it was the father then what accent would he have had?  If the mother then a possible irish accent.  Either may have been challenging to the registrar even though St Helier would had more visitors with different accents than many other places. 

Have you found a marriage?

No I haven't. I have looked in Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland but to no avail, they may have married in Jersey.
I have been told her name was McAverty which is pretty close to McAvetty and after looking at the record I began to wonder, so the dialect could well play a part here.
