Who was Joseph Lusby?
« on: Tuesday 14 July 20 09:55 BST (UK) »
I know that Joseph Lusby was born in Hull in 1772 and that his father was John Lusby.  If you can find him on the 1841 census he will be in the Hull Charterhouse, because the extraordinary fact is that he was admitted to a room there in 1791, when he was only 19 (you were supposed to be at least 60).  Joseph died in January 1844.  I would really like to find out more about him to explain the circumstances of his life.

There is a Joseph Lusby born in Hull on the 1841 census living with a Mackenzie family in Hull aged 68. He is listed as a Mariner.

Thanks, but I think that was a different man.  There's one born in Airmyn in 1773.  My Joseph was certainly in the Charterhouse in 1841.

I haven't, and they're taking months to get now anyway.  An the causes of death on certificates that early are often not very enlightening.
