I'm a Vaughan, my part of that family moved into Machynlleth after a bit of a riot in 1869.

We then became notorious there and to quote we were "a disgrace to the town and the neighbourhood".

My great great grandfather left Machynlleth in about 1882 to work as a bricklayer in the Potteries, Staffordshire and we've never left 140 years later.

Also welcome DV_Staffs.
My wife is a descendant of the ‘legendary sand merchant of Caergwrle’, for whom we have a lot of info. When I have a moment I can share this with you. A bit busy summer grandchildren minding right now!
