yes, he was in the army.

What I am hoping is for information about the Clifford Oliver who sailed to Quebec in 1929 - are there any - possible marriage record/death record of him in Quebec post 1929?

Thanks

Going by the address he gives on the 1929 the passenger who travelled to Canada appears to be Douglas Clifford Oliver from Croydon

Birth Mar qtr 1898
Douglas Clifford Marchant Oliver    mmn Tressider
Epsom    2a   9

I wonder if he went to Canada?

There is a travel record on FindMyPast for a Cliford Oliver born 1898 sailing to Quebec, Canada on 29th April 1929, ship was Alaunia.  Occupation unclear a something maker?

Address is equally difficult to make out - it looks like 5 Nottingham Road, South Croydon.

I agree 5 Nottingham Rd, South Croydon - occ looks like Timber Dealer

ADDED Douglas William Oliver is at that address in 1915 - he was a Hardwood merchant on earlier census

That 'Clifford' would appear to be Douglas Clifford Oliver born Epsom reg district in 1898 -mmn Tressider - son of Douglas William Oliver and Hilda Alice Tressider who married in Croydon in 1896

His marriage and death took place in the UK (Freebmd)
