DNA bombshell
« on: Thursday 16 July 20 09:56 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone

So looking at DNA matches yesterday and come across someone who matched me 4th-6th cousin 48cm across 5 segments

couldnt figure where we were connected till i went through his people list and there i saw the heart stopper my mothers first husband  ... now im blown away does this mean hes my father and not the man that brought me up

I then looked into his family tree and seen the whole said family name of Mums first husband ... im now at a loss of my next move

Modified * may have misunderstood the question

The cm match sounds much further back ..
Maybe they or you missed a generation in their tree
My 37cm- 56 cm matches are  4th cousins or 3rd cousins once removed or second cousins twice removed
*Modified
Have you checked
shared matches of this shared match .?
Do they match other people on your  mother's side ?

Can you link with dna results that have trees that include ancestors of the man you have always believed to be your father?

Hi,
I have a DNA match of the same cm, and it is connect to a sibling of my great-grandmother. So maybe go through your set of great-grandmothers siblings, and follow back down their marriages, and children they had down to the time this match was born.
Good luck !!
