Burial record please
« on: Sunday 19 July 20 09:35 BST (UK) »
Hi
I'm looking for the burial place of Ruth Lambert. I have a vopy of her Will which was written in 1727 she was a widow and her abode was Broadgate. Which from other family members they were game keepers at Bradgate Park.  But I can't find a record of her burial.
Thanks

The most likely place would be Newtown Linford.

The last record for 1726 was a baptism of Elizabeth Hind of Bradgate, the previous record being of William, the son of Daniel Lambert, the son of Ruth.

Then there is a big gap until 1728. For some reason, those of 1727 seem to be missing.

There are records of her daughter, Dianah, in Nailstone but no burial of Ruth.

Unfortunately, the first burial record in 1728 was not until August.

David

P.S. I have a CD of records, which I have just checked. Again, no burial record. It has the baptism  and burial records of Daniel's children between 1712 and 1727.

I wondered if the stone was slate. Many in the area were, and they seem to last forever.

Given her age, there was a marriage in Prestwold on 18th October 1663 of Robert Lambert to Ruth Kirke.

There was a baptism of Robert, son of Robert and Ruth, in Whitwick on 22 Nov 1686, although there was a burial of Robert there on 8th February 1685.

Also, a baptism of Dianah Lambard, daughter of Robert and Ruth, in Whitwick on 22 Jul 1683. She could be the daughter mentioned in the will. Daneil was baptised there in Frebruary 1675 but of Robert and Elizabeth (an error?).

Also Rebecca in 1678 and buried in 1689, Richard in 1681 and Myles in 1683 and buried in 1683.

Also a Luke and Miles in Belton

Hi David
Yes I believe the headstone was made of slate. And the Will mentions Dinah as her daughter she married James Gardner. I didn't have the marriage of Robert & Ruth thank you for that. I have Whitwick pr and have found baptisms for most of their children. In the Will Ruth says her eldest son was Joseph but I've not yet found a baptism for him. Ruth says.he has been disobedient and she sounds very cross with him !
Thank for all your help

I can't see a baptism for Joseph. You may have seen these but, given the name of one of the sons, the following might be Robert and his father.

Robert Lambert, son of Myles, baptised in Wymeswold on 14th March 1633.
Other baptisms have the mother as Elizabeth.

Milo Lambert baptised in Prestwold on 7th December 1599
