Can you help me to help you.

Have you tried turning your PC off and on again ?
If you know how too, you should delete the Internet Browsing History in your browser.
What have you changed since it worked OK ?
In what way is the website "looking strange"?

As you say, Windows 7 is out of support - not the same as "out of date". But that should not be causing a problem.   This reply is from a Windows 7 machine.

Thank you for your reply, I think I have discovered the culprit!!!!, my husband has just told me he was fiddling about changing something yesterday, so HE IS THE CULPRIT, wish he wouldn't, I am not good with changes.

Was really worried it was Windows 7, we do have a lap top with Windows 10 but I just can't get to grips with it

My family tree prog isn't compatible with Windows 7 which is another worry

Thank you

LM

This topic has been raised numerous times now. We're sorry that it's causing you problems.

We are aware of the issue and undergoing testing to fix the problem.

Unfortunately when the fix is implemented it will cause RootsChat to become unavailable for a period of time.

As with all testing, and for other operability reasons we cannot provide a timetable of when the changeover will begin.

Trystan

I keep getting the following message when I try to access Rootschat today:

Your connection is not fully secure
This site uses an outdated security configuration, which may expose your information (for example, passwords, messages or credit cards) when it is sent to this site.
NET::ERR_SSL_OBSOLETE_VERSION

As you can see, I can 'work around' this by clicking on an 'advance' button and then clicking on

Proceed to www.rootschat.com (unsafe)

This lets me into Rootschat but i have to repeat the above exercise every time I change pages within Rootschat.

My PC is about 3 months old but this is the first time this has happened to me with RC, although RC has always shown up with a red 'Nor Safe' warning on the toolbar ever since I got this new PC.

I'm using Chrome.

Do I need to do something or should I just ignore it and hope its a glitch and will go away (Preferred option!!)?

Hi.  I have had exactly the same problem and think it is a browser security issue.  I managed to access using my phones internet settings rather than through google.  Try using a different browser
Ferguson (st fillans, comrie)
Garnock (lothian, fife)
Valet (london, switzerland)
Butcher (ramsgate, glasgow)
Blackbird (durham,  newcastle)
Barr (ayrshire, ireland)
Fleming (paisley)

There are a lot of people experiencing the same issue.

I thought I had escaped it but have just noticed the same message.

I think there are some workarounds on other threads on this topic (Trystan is aware of it).

Or change to a different browser for Rootschat that doesn't display the message, such as Opera.  As this is only a forum and there is no monetary transactions it doesn't matter that the message is not displayed until such time that Trystan does a fix.

I updated my computer yesterday and am now receiving the message in the screenshot every time I try to log in and every time I try to navigate the site. I can still find and post information but have to go through the tedious process of clicking on warning messages that seem to state that I won't be able to access this wonderful site in the future. Any suggestions for how to resolve this issue? Is it the site that needs to fix it or is it my computer?

Thanks folks,
                   Peter
