William Vernon WILLSON
« on: Monday 20 July 20 15:51 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information on the above who was in the 51st squadron and was killed over Germany on the 24th March 1944. I have found an incidence No MZ507, where do I go for that? I have also been onto the National Archives AIR 50 but can't work out whether the 34,000 odd records are indexed at all. Can anyone offer guidance please?

You can download the ORB for 51 Sqn here which records the failure of MZ 507 to return and lists the casualties:

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

That is him, his number is given in the list of the crew missing on 24 March 1944 in the ORB.

The link below gives the basics but they also have two links leading to a fascinating newspaper article in German about the crash.
