Harry Henry Smith)
« on: Monday 20 July 20 20:53 BST (UK) »
Hi

I was owndering if anyone could look up Harry Smith. He states he was born at Flimwell or Ticehurst in 1855 but I cannot find a birth for him anywhere, The only one I did find was a few years earlier to a Tilden Smith but I am not sure whether this is the correct one.

In the 1851 census Tilden has a son called Henry aged 9. It is in the Ticehurst parish so could be the right one but I would just like this confirming.
Many thanks Gaynori

Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874 so many births went unregistered prior to then

With a surname like Smith you need to give more info.   Your subject header says he was Harry Henry Smith.  Can you confirm that as Harry can be short for both Henry or Harold

Who did he marry & when

Does he name a father on his marriage cert?  If you haven't bought a copy then you need to give some thought to doing so as it may help find him on censuses

Is he Harry on marriage/census/death

You have posted on the Kent board but both Flimwell & Ticehurst are in Sussex?

1881 has a Henry Smith b Ticehurst 1855 + parents John & Emily
