The line under the date?
« on: Tuesday 21 July 20 12:08 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

Can you clarify this birth record, the alteration was from the fourteen to thirteen yes?  Also what does the red underlined bit mean?

Thank you

The part underlined  says 4 h[ours] 30 m[inutes] p..m., i.e. that was the time at which the birth took place.

You guys never cease to amaze me!   Yes, I have just discovered she was a twin!  GRO has a record for a Bridget too!

Never seen the time on a birth record, now I know why, Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yes, I have just ordered her death cert. The funny thing is, Bridget lived on to emigrate to New South Wales and live a long life but she was known as Mary!   Now I know the Irish are a nightmare for not using given names but do you think this was in honour of her twin sister?

I think it is normal on birth certs for twins, as I have mentioned before, not on my brothers and mine as we were 2 hours apart spanning midnight, I think it might be to do with proving if need be which child was born first, inheritance maybe

That was a nice gesture if she took on her sister's name, the family obviously spoke about her
