Great News - Cornwall Online Parish Clerks
« on: Tuesday 21 July 20 21:46 BST (UK) »
Today the COPC Project has hit 4 million records. It is a tremendous achievement by an ever changing group of people keen to help to record the history of Cornish families.

Transcribers come from all over the world and are usually people who have made use of the database. The site is a fabulous resource where people can look up info for themselves or contact an OPC to help with brick walls.

We are immensely proud of what has been achieved since the Project started and hope to go on from strength to strength.

Thankyou

Fizzy

Well, I will say "congratulations" to all involved in this great resource!

After 30-odd years (thanks to DNA) I finally knew where my Griggs came from (Jacobstow), and the OPC has been a great resource helping me to add over 300 ancestors to what was a very big hole in my tree.

Thanks again.

Congratulations!

For completeness, etc., to ensure that those who do not know find out, how is contact made?

Hi Fizzy

It's not (just) for me, it's for anyone who, say, is starting their journey in family genealogy.

Thanks for the info.

Many congrats and thanks.

I don't have (so far) ancestors from that neck of the woods , but am immensely grateful to 'any' project which extends our research capabilities through the kindness and hard work of others.

I do try my best to 'pay forward' (we can never repay those who do projects such as this) and hope that my small efforts help others both currently and in the future.

Well done!

Boo

Many years ago, when I started my family tree I sent an inquiring email to the OPC for the Cornish parish where my gt grandmother was born.  I got back 4 pages of genealogy going back to the 1700s!  A huge help in the early days, especially when I had no opportunity to go to Cornwall to research myself and so little was online.
