Hi,

Iím trying to read the motherís maiden name on this death certificate, it looks like McGraw to me but the G doesnít look quite right, wondering what everyone thinks

McGraw or possibly McGrew but think McGraw is more likely

I'd say McGraw too as, when enlarged,  there's a down stroke on the a which isn't present in the e in farmer.

What was Ann McGrawís husbandís name?

Is that a Scottish cert and what year?

Not a Scottish certificate, itís the death certificate of my great great aunt who died in Australia, she was born in Ireland

Her name was rose Boyle she was born in Fermanagh Ireland in 1856 and her fathers name was Edward Boyle

I canít see anything in Irish records. Having said that, I rarely have success with them.

Iím sure someone will come along who is better at searching for them.

Did Rose come to Australia with family?

Do you have her 1881 NSW marriage certificate?

I have seen capital Gs written that way before.

I have also seen quite a few incorrect motherís maiden names on death certificates, so agree that buying Roseís marriage certificate might be a good way to confirm her motherís surname.  :)
