Finally I am able to answer the above.  Yes !! I found the connection between cousins Gwladys Cowles and Dorothy Mulligan

Gwladys's parents: Albert Cowles married Anna Pritchard at Abergavenny Dec 1895.  Anna was a sister to Lily May Pritchard.  Lily May was an aunt to Gwladys Cowles

Now all I need do is find when Lily May travelled to the US, name of ship etc
