Edward Harvey
« on: Wednesday 22 July 20 18:24 BST (UK) »
The attached link is a 1900 census ref for an Edward Harvey (it says Eduard but no Eduard born in the UK 1850-1860). Edward was born in Islington in 1863 the son of Edward & Caroline(Gosling). Details of parents birthplace are correct, plus I lose sight of him in the uk from 1881 onwards. Can anyone possibly expand on the marriage to Amelia and birth of daughter Mildred. Just to add 2 of Edwards siblings ended up in New York, Caroline(1864) & Charles (1868)

Any help is always welcome.

John

he is listed by himself on the 1892 NY State census, Ward 5 Rochester
age 26, born in England, a cooper by trade, not yet a citizen (so his naturalization was between 1892 and 1900, if the 1900 information is correct.)

But there is an Edward Harvey in the Bronx in 1910 married to a wife Annie, with a son Frank. They had been married 15 years. They were in Brooklyn in 1900. so I don't  think this is the man you are looking for. it might not be your man. -- But the parents' names match ?? so maybe. Quite a change in profession though, the man in the Bronx was a masseur in a Turkish bath.

The man in Rochester is consistently Edwin, not Edward, even on the image of 1900, which was transcribed as Eduard. I found him as such in 1915, 1920, and his daughter Eliz's marriage.
Maybe the guy in the Bronx is your Edward after all.
Will wait to see if you can verify the date of birth, at least the qtr of the year for your Edward, son of Edward and Caroline.

This is 98% my Edward. Having just looked again at his baptism record he was baptised 2nd August 1863. I must admit to not noting on that baptism record his dob as 2nd July 1863 which ties in with Rosie's brilliant find.

So having died in 1932 he should appear on 1910/20/30 census.

Did look like a possibility going by the baptism record 2/8/1863
