Sadler family Scarborough help wanted please
« on: Wednesday 22 July 20 19:56 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find the Sadler family who lived at 66, Coldcliffe (colescliffe) Road, Scarborough.

My mother Rose Elizabeth Senior (from York) used to go and stay at Aunt Annie's house, all I've been told is that Annie used to smoke a claypipe and was married to Joe (Joseph?) Sadler. I suppose this would have been early 1950-1960.

Any Help greatly recieved.

Jorvik Andi
Wilson - York, Tadcaster (East), Sheriff Hutton, Oxton
Senior - Barnsley, York, Scarborough
Smith - Glanford Brigg (Lincs), Scarborough, York
Petty - York, Deptford (Kent)
Hanlon/Davies - Skirlaugh (East Riding Yorks)
Broadhead - Royston

Welcome to Rootschat

Was your mother b 1940 York?

If so - it’s very likely the Sadlers were much older & are now deceased.  If you are looking for their descendants - we would not be allowed to publish that info as Rootschat has a no living persons policy

That is correct my mum was born in 1940, I'm aware that the Sadler family mentioned are probably deceased. I was not asking about living members but asking for information about the deceased.

That Annie Sadler shows on 1939 in Scarborough, but not with a Joe/Joseph.

Does your Mother know of any cousins?

Was Aunt Annie an actual relative - many friends were given that title

JamJar  Thank you for the welcome.

Sorry I don't know Annie's maiden name, if I was asked to guess I'd say either Wilson or Senior, I know next to nothing on the Wilson line (My Grandmother's side of family).

The Death record you gave is a plausible one.

Will have a look and see if I can find this record, sorry that's all the information I gleaned from my mother.

I'm not 100% on that question but I do know for certain (because I have wedding certificate) that a John Sadler and Ellen Sadler were witnesses to my great-grandfather's Albert Senior Marriage to Rose (aka Rosie or Rosetta) Smith held at Scarborough Registra's Office on 29th April 1899.
So there is a link to the Sadler family going back further than Aunt Annie.

There is a marriage on freebmd between Albert E Sadler & Annie Drydale in 1924 Scarborough.  The birthdate on the 1977 death reg is (almost)a match for the 1939 entry.  You need to look at the  entry as we are not allowed to post direct info from it

1883 - Ada Sadler/ John Senior - Wakefield
1885 - Ada Senior / William Sadler - Wakefield

They are the only 2 marriages listed on freebmd with those names on the same page
