Help with handwriting on a Workhouse document

Can anyone tell please me what the entry say on the 1871 Cenus againt the name of Emily Grady (age (9) in the Chorlton Union Workhouse. It's a long time since I've inserted an image and have forgotten how. Many thanks

It says Do (ditto). and possibly the bit in brackets could be John

The line above that is dittoed says Mother Mary in (here?)

Thanks Rosie, I guessed that Do meant ditto, but wasn't sure if the rest read 'In house' or 'In Here' - which could mean that Emily Grady was possibly born in the Workhouse.  I've traced her birth to 1862 in Chorlton (with mother Hooton), but no marriage record of a Grady/Hooton anywhere.

Using just the Piece Number 3974 - there is a Jane Grady, born 1830 in Newark, Notts - Widow, general servant - Inmate.

I think the  name in brackets is Jane, so your find looks like it could be her,  BB.

Mmm,  yes I thought that, but couldn't find a Jane Hooton marrying a Grady anywhere...  questions, questions .....

I'm not sure what else you know of her but there's a possible marriage for her in 1882

Q1, 8C,  881, Chorlton to either William Monkman or Edward Eidershaw.

In 1881 I think she might be at RG11/3891/88/37

Yes definitely Monkman. The GRO has eldest son (Harry) with mmn as Grady.

It might well be that Jane Hooton had been married to someone else, prior to Mr Grady.  Birth registrations tend to show the original maiden name of the mother.
