" He did have a signals/electronics badge on his right arm in the original photo - a mech got the badge as it was for anyone in the telecoms trade."

It wasn't his uniform, that's why I said it was inaccurate.   And as I don't know if, he was

in telecoms I have removed it, but thanks mate, I learn something new every day. :D :D

The original photo on the first post of this thread has the badge and if that's him in his uniform when he served in the RAF he's wearing a signals(telecoms)/electronics badge. It's not the eagle that would be higher.

The black and white photo that wanted to be improved at the beginning of the thread. By the way he's an LAC not a corporal on it

If you think that the arm you can see on the lower left belongs to Zygmunt , it doesn't.

it's part of a group picture and it's the left arm of somebody else . At least that's what

I see. But my eye's a'int that good.  I can also see somebody's boot just behind Zygmut.

Thanks to everyone who has replied here - your input is appreciated.

barryd that's a great site.  A lot of the photos on it are from my site (they have been credited properly) and those were given to me by members of the airman's families.  But there are fakes on it - the four four-engined bombers have visible guns in their turrets.  The only time 304 flew the heavies was after the War in Transport Command but these ones show guns peeking out of the turret and Transport Command was unarmed after the war.  Still a great site.

tomkin is right - the original photo was a group picture but was mostly blurred by cigarette smoke so I cropped it to get the man I wanted.  Even if the smoke could be removed, I have no idea of their identities.

medpat is also right about the rank but I write about them under their demob rank or the rank they held when they were killed, which is not necessarily their rank in the pictures I use.

Carol - your comment might make you my new consultant on RAF ranks!

Once again, thank you all

tomkin, you have done an amazing job and I am very grateful especially since it is something I don't have the skill to do myself
