Findmypast showing order of wives
« on: Friday 24 July 20 17:51 BST (UK) »
I've started my family tree during lockdown and have come across an annoying little issue with Findmypast. My ancestor married twice. I put in the details of the second wife first because I had them to hand and then the first wife. The site insists that second wife is 1 and first wife is 2. I've tried deleting and all sorts but nothing seems to clear the site's 'memory'. Can someone advise, please.

Thanks

Chris

Hi,

I don't use FindMyPast so I am not sure if it the same thing but the program I use puts the wives (or husbands) alphabetically UNLESS I put in BOTH the marriages between the ancestor and spouses. Then they go into the correct order because chronologically in your case wife 1 will have been married to the ancestor before wife 2.

Thanks Liz. I'll see if I can make that work on Findmypast.
