Thank you,
VERY helpful information,

Do you know where in Australia please ?
Working on this family today with new research,

Hope any other GROUNDWATERs will be located before long.

Magnus GROUNDWATER was obviously named after St Magnus in ORKNEY.

Looking at the scenic documentary about these peaceful isles one longs to travel...
not for now sadly...

If there  are copies of this  autobiographical narrative around today would anyone be able to shine a light on one please?

Turramurra

The Orkney Family History Society has grave transcriptions on their website. You might get something from that. They also have a search function which allows you to see how many people there were of any given name in Orkney in the Scottish censuses 1841 onwards. There were roughly 100 Groundwaters.

there are Groundwater graves in nearly every cemetery in Orkney, if you join the Orkney Family History Society you will find lots of information to help you, its very reasonable and can be done online with a credit/debit card. Orphir burials are at The Bu or St Nicholas Church, if you google it you will find lots of info
