East End Wedding - Mystery Family Photo - Early 1900
« on: Monday 27 July 20 12:01 BST (UK) »
Hi,

My grandfather passed away a few years ago without ever explaining the specific details of this wedding photo. The picture shows my great grandfather's wedding which I think took place somewhere in East London?

Would be great to find out more.

Regards,

Pete

I think this looks like maybe a workplace as the man sitting on right has his sleeves rolled up and a white apron on.  Maybe it a mixture of family and work colleagues as no older people in photo.  Could it be a bakery or brewery maybe.

I reached the same conclusion as Creasegirl's, what was your Grandfather's and Grandmother's occupations? There are soldiers and a sailor in the photo, could it be a photo taken with Family and work friends before going off to war I wonder, or during leave home.

Welcome from me too :)

What a lovely photograph - looks like a happy gathering. Please do tell us who bride and groom were so that we can narrow down the location. It looks like a warehouse or similar.

On enlargement a soldier has medals, could be after WW1 or maybe 2nd Boer War. Looks like a boy scout on front row so post 1908 if he is. Due to 3 servicemen feel it's WW1 era

It reminds me of some of those  buildings around Somers town I think it is called, near  St Pancras

If we can find out the occupation of the groom it might give a clue

Could it be at a public house with the publican in an apron.
