Military scarf handkerchief

This turned up in  a relatives possessions,  can anyone date it or have any ideas about it.
It`s printed on silk  and has to be turned round to see it all, hence the many photos.
 Queen Victoria medal is on it.

 It`s a bit like a jigsaw,  but the best  I can do. It`s an interesting item.

1890's.  The Lee-Metford rifle entered service in 1888 and was phased out from 1895 when it was replaced by the Lee-Enfield.

What an interesting piece of Military Memorabilia, it must be quite rare. I'm relieved that you didn't request a colour

Yes it is and some more  items have   turned up.
 A pair of horns, possibly from an antelope or similar animal. It`s now looking like it`s Boer War related. 
I think a post on the military section might shed some light.

What a super artefact.  I agree that it is almost certainly an early form of infantry aide memoire that could easily be carried in the pocket. I can imagine it being sold by Army & Navy Stores, and Emporiums in garrisons like Aldershot and the Curragh.  Although other arms soldiers might also find it useful, it is most definitely slanted towards infantry and the figures are dressed as guardsmen (bearskins), riflemen (pillbox caps) and ordinary line (universal spiked helmet) regiments.  If it could be reproduced as a handkerchief for gentlemen it would be quite a unique gift or curio. Going by the detail printed throughout the extent of the square I’d date it to around 1896, just a few years before the 2nd Anglo/Boer War.
