Smiths gypsies

Hello there
This is my first post as a new member so please bear with me. I have recently found that I have descended from the Smiths gypsies and a great grandfather was Absolom Smith, known as King of the Gypsies. No stories have been passed down, which is a shame. One of the things that interests me is how and when they stopped travelling and became house dwellers. Any advice or information on the Smiths would be welcome. Thanks for reading.

Well, first piece of advice would when a When & Where, and Who With, (not just giving a name).

If you want to know when "your" travelling family stopped travelling, you need to trawl through records, and check residence(s) and occupation(s).
