Boer war.

Since posting this,  other information has turned up.
It  possible  the man who may have had this was  Joseph Henry Travis.
Would he have been the right age.
I`m not finding him in 1901.  Could he have been in the  Boer War  11 October 1899 – 31 May 1902.

JOSEPH HENRY TRAVIS was born on 16 February 1883 in Eccelston,  Knowsley. the son of JOHN TRAVIS and ANN OWEN, His father John died in 1885 and in 1891 he was living with his grandparents Joseph Owen and Mary Owen, Knowsley.

Joseph Henry Travis married Margaret Howard in December 1903 in West Derby, Lancashire.

Thanks.

Strangely - there is a military record for a Joseph Henry Travis born c 1882 - but who was born in Eccleshall. Sheffield!

He enlisted on 22 Aug 1900 - but gives his age as 18yrs and 9 mths.

Quite a coincidence with the name and the similar sounding birth place.

I realise it's not your man - but it was just such a coincidence.

Yes, probably -- I couldn't see your Joseph Henry amongst the Military records on Find My Past (although that doesn't mean he's not there of course!)

There are a dozen J Travis in the Boer War medal roll, just need to see if there are associated personal details anywhere.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
