Robert and Evening Smith, Lincoln
« on: Tuesday 28 July 20 20:38 BST (UK) »
Hi. Robert and Evening Smith were my GGG Grandparents. Siberani Smith(their DIL) was myGG gran, and brought up my Gran (Harriet Smith) as her own. If anyone has any information about Siberani and her family, I'd be delighted to hear from them. Harriet's brother Thomas, was killed in the Dardanelles. He had 2 sons, one of whom(apparently) was owner of the Lincolnshire Chronicle. Likewise, I'd be delighted to hear from anyone connected.

Welcome to Rootschat

You haven't given any birthyears or birthplaces to help us find these people

There is a marriage in 1843 Stamford which has a Siberanious Smith & a Diverus Smith on the same page

A Siberina Smith b 1841 died 1917 Lincoln

Is this the family in 1881?

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q27V-R634

Were the family Travellers?

Hi Carole, Thanks for your reply. Siberani Smith was married to Thomas Smith and died in Lincoln in 1917. She was born somewhere in Northants. The family were gypsies/travellers. I know Robert and Evening are both descendants of Wisdom Smith(from mid 1700's).  Siberani and Thomas'  daughter Mary Ann was my GGrandmother. On a census document it has Harriet(my Gran) down as their daughter, but she was Mary Ann's(born, I think when Mary Ann was very young) father unknown.

I can't seem to find any marriage for Robert and Evening.

The earliest baptism seems to be for Isabel on 10 December 1817, Robert occupation is described as Gipsy. In Wymondham.

Did Robert and Evening marry?

Not sure if you have Thomas' baptism

Thomas Smith
Baptism 15 Jun 1834 Harby Leicestershire
Denomination   Anglican
Father    Robert, gypsey  Mother Evelin
Parish Registers

One of Thomas' children

Ambrose Smith
Baptism 27 May 1867 Eaton Leicestershire
Denomination   Anglican
father Thomas Occ gypsy mother Syb?nia
Parish Registers

Not found anything on Siberani Smith other than on census with husband Thomas and Banns for their marriage - as previously mentioned their marriage certificate should give you the name of her father
