Richard Edme Gleeson (1870): Royal Military Asylum Chelsea
« on: Wednesday 29 July 20 11:08 BST (UK) »
I have Richard Edme Gleeson at the Royal Military Asylum Chelsea on the 1881 census, and I also have him being attested in 1884:

Name:           Richard Edme Gleeson
Enlistment Age:   14
Birth Date:   abt 1870
Birth Place:   Cumagh Camp Kildare
Enlistment Year:   1884
Regiment:   Connt. & Transpt. Corps
Regimental Number:   J/5714
Attestation Paper:   Yes

I am however looking for information regarding his time at the Royal Military Asylum i.e Reception/discharge/parents/etc.  If anyone has access to this information I would be extremely grateful.

Father Patrick Gleeson, a staff sergeant, mother Margaret. Admitted to the Military Asylum 18/2/1881, aged 10.5 years, religion RC. There's a reference to Commissariat & Transport but that may be to do with his appenticeship.

Thank you so much Shaun, that has saved me buying birth & marriage records having confirmed that he was the son of Patrick & Margaret.  Thank you so much again
