Mousedales and any variation thereof!
« on: Thursday 30 July 20 08:11 BST (UK) »
Anyone researching Mousedales from around Frodsham? I'm particularly interested in John Mousedale (DOB c. 1751) and his children. I have a potential marriage to Mary Percivall.
TIA :)

Hi, by chance I just came across a possible relative in my own research. A Joseph Moulsdale who married my 9th great-aunt, Ellen Wilcockson, in Chester on 5 Oct 1677. St Peter's, Chester Parish Register records, "1677 ... Joseph Moulsdale of Huxley and Ellen Wilkinson [sic] of Manley" which is next to Frodsham. No idea if this is a connection but of possible interest.
Meanwhile, I assume you have come across the 31 Mar 1756 Frodsham baptism of "John Moulsdal of Alvanley" and also the 31 May 1757 Frodsham baptism of "John Moulsdal of Manley" ?
Regards.

I have some peripheral Mousdales in my Hitchmough family. Mary Mousdale Born 1788 in Frodsham, married Joseph Hitchmough in 1918 at St Oswald's Church in Chester. Mary's parents were John and Ann (nee Watson) born abt 162 and 1766respetively.  Mary had siblings, Ann 1796, Ann 1798, Thomas 1801 born Tarporley, died Wallasey, Wiiral, John born 1803 Alvanley died Tranmere, Hannah born 1807, Margaret born 1808 and Elizabeth born 1810.
John born 1803 settled in Birkenhead and was a wheelright.  He married Mary and had 2 children Thomas 1842 and John 1844.  Thomas married Lucy Pickup and had Gertrude 1868 and Beatrice 1870.
Gertrude married Peter Barrow and had 5 children.
It appears that a large number of the family migrated to the Wirral in the Tranmere and Wallasey areas.
Hope this of interest.
Best wishes

Further to my badly spelled earlier post, Mary married Joseph in 1818, and John was born about 1762.
Sorry!

I have a 'married into' connection to the Mousedales in the Frodsham area of Cheshire.

Thomas Jenkins (1825) (x3 Gt Uncle) of Manley, m Frances Done in 1851 Frodsham
Frances dau of John Done (1795) & Mary Moulsdale (1801)
Mary dau of Henry Moulsdale (1769) d 1857 Frodsham & Hannah ?

It's a bit convoluted with a spelling variation, but there may be a link.
