Thanks Philip. There's a new variation! That might be helpful in expanding the pool I'm looking at from that area :)

I guess the pool expands in proportion to the varied name spelling by clerics!
Given the proximity to Frodsham, your John M 1751 could well be cousin related to my Henry M 1769. Do let me know if I can help further.
