Judicial hangings, 17th century
« on: Thursday 30 July 20 19:25 BST (UK) »
Are there any records anywhere of death sentences carried out in London in the 18th century? I’ve seen court records where a sentence has been handed down but no idea if it was carried out or commuted.
Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)
Greenfield (Liverpool)
Holyland (Anywhere and everywhere, also Holiland Holliland Hollyland)
Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)
Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)

Hi

You could try this site http://www.britishexecutions.co.uk/chronology.php?time=1596134463

or search for something like English Hangings

This post is a natural hand made product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to be considered flaws. Unfortunately my preferred method of writing (Parker Quink on Basildon Bond) cannot be used.

Thank you, interesting but gruesome  :-\.  I see the Wikipedia "notable executions" don't include the Cato St conspirators!

On the London Lives website, a recordset called:

Ordinary of Newgate Prison:
Ordinary's Accounts: Biographies of Executed Convicts

See:  https://www.londonlives.org/browse.jsp?archive=OA

Or you can search by name or keyword.

thank you horselydown! I found the relevant name there but only as a mention in someone else's confession -- it does say that the the preson had been executed. (It was a husband and wife team that I was looking for, don't know if they were both killedbut maybe -- not nice at all, as the charge was counterfeiting currency for which the punishment then, BUT ONY FOR WOMEN, was being burnt at the stake  :-[ )
