Florence Cisily/Cecily Reeves
« on: Saturday 01 August 20 11:35 BST (UK) »
There is an entry on Family search  of a marriage between
Florence Cecily Reeves and Frederick Mordsell John Coombs. The marriage took place in Lehore , Bengal in 1923.

How can I find out if that Florence Cecily Reeves  born c 1904, daughter of Frederick John Reeves  could possibly be the Florence Cisily Reeves born Newcastle 1906 daughter of Frederick John Reeves  and Matilda Gibson Key. I think it's unlikely and yet I can't trace in the UK record on FindMyPast or fs.
There is a death record on FS for 1926 for Florence Cecily Coombs aged 19 which put her birth year at c 1906. I assume there was often a degree of artistic license with ages and dates.
If it is the same person I wonder how on earth they met.
Can anyone help?

Looking on familysearch
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGJ7-F9K

The bride is (allegedly) 19y, and the groom 24y.
Maybe she added a couple of years to be respectable.

Who might M G Reeves be? (a witnesses name)

She's also a visitor in 1911.
Where were her mother & Father.
What did the father do for a job?

So her father was an army reservist waiter, and she wed an army restaurant manager.

Not the biggest of leaps is it? Possible the witness was her mother?

Perhaps not but forums are about discussing and sharing information. I didn't see the harm in double checking as I could have missed something closer to home by focusing on making everything fit what I'd seen on FS. I was surprised to find her in India but pleased if that's the answer. Either way it doesn't always pay to leap and I repeat there is no harm whatsoever in seeking a second opinion. Most people have been very kind and helpful.

Have you tracked her parents between 1911 and her marriage.  If as Pauline suggests her mother is a witness have you found the family on passenger lists.

If you want to discuss possibilities,  then supply more of the known nfo.

You didn't give grooms age nor occupation,  you didn't give witness names, nor did you give any information on the brides father other than a name.

I agree with Rosie, that a search of passenger lists look worthwhile.

The marriage took place at The Garrison Church.   :)

If her father was in the Army at this time then it is unlikely that you will find her on Passenger lists.  His service records will still be with the MOD.

Frederick & Matilda were in Kennington c1928.  When Matilda died in 1948 Frederick was a 'retired postman'
