EW Ladbrooke 30464, 219984 decipher MIC please
« on: Sunday 02 August 20 09:40 BST (UK) »
I have his MIC, on the back is written "applied for mSm-24027(A910). Can anyone translate for me please?
He also has the name of Ernest W Ladbrooke and Ludbrooke on various documents.

ALSO would he have been entitled to a pension after his WW1 service?

Applied for MSM = Meritorious Service Medal.
I think the second part says 24027 AG 10

It would appear to refer to an application for the Meritorious Service Medal (crisane has this).  The bit in brackets is AG 10 which was a War Office officer's department dealing, among other things with medal entitlements.
I don't find any record in the London Gazette under any variant of his name!.

There is a record for him, serving from 1898 to 1919 on Findmypast.  He had over 14 of his 21 years counting towards pension which I believe should have resulted in a pension  - someone may be able to confirm (or not).

My reading of his record indicates he had 21 years continuous service, therefore he was qualified for his pension.

On the line below his service time is the pension qualification time, 14 plus years (which still gives him a pension I believe).

He was on the reserve from Sep 1906 to Aug 1914 which is the difference between service and pension qualification.
