John Reeve of West Dereham Norfolk b. 26 Aug 1781

I understand that this John Reeve is the father of David Reeve, born circa 1816/1817 with his mother as Mary Towler.  Married 12 Oct 1801. 
I'm looking for Johns father who could be Thomas Reeve of Foxley who married Elizabeth Smith at Litcham of 17 Dec 1763, or another John Reeve who married Elizabeth Hunter in Norwich on 8th Dec 1760.
I can't seem to be able to be sure of either.

The family seem to have lived around Whittington and Northwold for generations after David Reeve.

Too, when was Thomas Reeve born ?  If it was Thomas of Foxley, then it was sometime in 1736.  Alternatives are a Thomas of Norwich St Gregory b. 1732, Thomas of Hackford near Reepham b. 1738 or Thomas of Roydon, near Diss b. 1731.
Any help would be much appreciated.  (My email address is working now).

Do you have Burials for these individuals to narrow down their date of birth?


And Davids M/C to confirm his Fathers name/occp?

Where in Norfolk was David born?

Thanks for the quick reply.  I assume the M/C means marriage certificate.  Regarding the marriage cert., there is no occupation as it is a parish record only.  I'm afraid I don't have death certificates for either or all.

Ok Bapt 1816 Northwold,
Married Susan DOCKEN 12 Oct 1838, Father JOHN a Labourer (Elizabeth Reeve a witness)
Married Ellen MANNING 16 Feb 1851, Father JOHN is deceased.

JOHN was buried 11 Jan 1848 age 71 (1777)

As John does not appear on 1851 his pob in Norfolk is not conclusively known.

BMD records are only available post Sept 1837 when civil reg was introduced.

Only Parish Records are available if they can be found before that.

On the 1801 Marriage of John/Mary in Fincham, he was of Stow Bardolph Parish*
This may or not be important for later research.

They seem to Bapt 1st child in Fincham AMY 18 Sep 1802
Then Baptised Northwold;
HENRY 1806, buried 1815 age 9
JAMES 1811
JOHN 1813
DAVID born 1814/bapt 1814 buried 1815 age 10 (this should be 1 or 10 mths)
DAVID 27 Sep 1816  plus Twin HENRY, both born 26 Sept 1816****** (Henry buried age 4mths)
ELIZABETH/AMY/SUSAN 1818, all buried soon after (Triplets it appears all born same day)
ELIZABETH 1820

In my opinion as John/Mary do not name a Son Thomas I dont think he is likely to be Johns Father.

Thank you for the information.  I didn't know of the deaths of the children which is very helpful.

The Thomas I am looking for is John Reeve's (Snr who married Mary Towler) father; he was  Thomas (or Tomas) Reeve and married an Elizabeth (Smith 1763 or Hunter 1760).
I can't work out with any degree of certainty which one it was.
Then there is the problem of which Thomas he is, as there seems to be four to choose from, born in the region between 1731 to 1738.
If my ancestor married Elizabeth Smith, then it is Thomas of Foxley who was born in 1736, but how can I know?
