Do you find that JOPLING and JOBLING are sometimes one and the same in that area?!

Using Durham Records Online, I now have:
Baptism "3 May 1741 Eleanor Jopling, of Plawsworth, daughter of Samuel Jopling."

Going forward:
Marriage "12 November 1764 George Bewick married Eleanor Jopling. Witnesses John Mowbray, John Bewick."

Going back, there's:
Marriage "24 November 1735 Samuel Jopling married Susanna Robinson, of Plawsworth."

Going further back, if there's a connection there's:
Baptism "7 December 1712 Susannah Robinson, of Lumley, daughter of Cornelius Robinson."

Lumley and Plawsworth are two or three miles apart, but the River Wear is in the way  :)

Thank you very much indeed for all help on this.

Thank you re John Bewick, gent. In fact there's a John Bewick of Birtley and his wife Dorothy, recorded in the baptisms of their sons George 31 March 1777 and William 27 June 1779.

George Bewick of Birtley has a John Bewick witnessing his wedding in 1764. I'm wondering if they're older and younger brothers. And not gents  :) - farmer, husbandman, waggoner, wright - those are the jobs. Their lives, jobs, and the old maps of Birtley, are like snapshots of the coming of the industrial revolution. Just fascinating.

It would be great to find a George Bewick born in the 1740's and a John Bewick born in the 1750's in the same place, but no luck so far. I wonder if they moved into the area from somewhere else.
