McGuigan & Dowdall Marriage 1938 Glasgow
« on: Sunday 02 August 20 18:12 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know of any descendants of PAUL McGUIGAN and JEANIE BRYDEN DOWDALL who were married in the district of Springburn, Glasgow on 2nd July 1938?

Jeanie died in Glasgow in 1999 aged 89 years. There is a death on SP for a Paul McGuigan aged 55 years in the registration district of Bonhill & Renton (Dunbartonshire) in 1961 which may or may not be him.

I have something personal to this couple that was presented to them on their wedding day and would be happy to give it to anyone who can prove a connection. I am not related to either of them in any way.

Hi Lodger

This looks to be Paul McGuigan's death details in 2007 don't you think? www.legacy.com/obituaries/legacy-ia/obituary.aspx?n=mcguigan&pid=192168888

Hi Monica,

How clever of you to find that! It certainly seems to be him alright, what a great age. And he died in Southport, I wonder what took him there? Family I suppose.
Let's hope someone finds this message and contacts me, I don't want to say in public what it is that I have but I'll send you a PM.

Thanks Rosie but I have no intention of spending any money on this and neither should anyone else on Rootschat, it's only a framed photograph/memento, if someone claims it, fine - if not it'll go back into the attic!

You could always try the undertakers whose telephone number is in the obituary. They might be willing to pass a message on to the family.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Good idea Forfarian, the only problem is, I don't think the number in the obituary is for an undertaker. The code is a local one, East Kilbride. So I suspect it is a private number, probably belonging to the person who put the household goods into auction (at Hamilton) in the first place!

Ah. I am not familiar with the area code for EK.

Hi, Paul McGuigan was my Great Uncle, he came to Southport to live with my late Father, William McGuigan. I just came across this post when looking for something else McGuigan related. Is there anything I can help you with ? Paul ended his days in an old people's home here in Southport
