Hi.
I have an Arthur Carrington Lloyd, a soldier in the medical corps, who married a Maria. I can’t find a marriage record though. Lots of ancestry searches suggest Maria Sait, but I can’t find the two of them on the same record??
They have three children in Aldershot: Charles Arthur, Maud Ethel and George Alexander between 1778 and 1782. Then two more when he is moved to Edinburgh: Beatrice Ada 1892 and Amy Edith Victoria in 1896. There could be more, as there is a gap between Aldershot and Edinburgh.

Can anyone find me an evidence of a marriage between Arthur and Maria. Censuses suggest that maria was born c1860 in Winchester and died in 1900. Arthur was born in Hull c1849-1852?

Arthur does not seem to exist before 1881 ::)

Maria's parents - James Tait, Saddler

Mother -- oddly is Janet Tait - maiden surname Carrington! Unless the maiden surname is an error - it's the same as Arthur's middle name!

I have James’s wife as Sarah? From the 1861 census?

Nannyj - have you seen Maria's death cert?

The informant was her daughter Maud E Parker.

Maria's husband is shown as Arthur Carrington Lloyd, which is correct. However Maria's mother definitely shown as Janet -- maiden name Carrington!

If the family moved about due to Arthur being in the Military, I can only think that the daughter didn't really know the correct name of her maternal grandmother!
