Thomas Bore - tinplate worker

Hi,

I was wondering if someone would be able to help me please. I have Thomas Bore b. about 1757 who became a Master Tinplate Worker and took on many apprentices between 1785 and 1805 in St Paul Shadwell, Middlesex.

Is there somewhere he must register as a Master before taking on apprentices? Also, I have gone through all the records to do with master and apprentices and I can't seem to find where he may have been an apprentice himself in any part of Britain.

I would appreciate any help offered as I'm stuck.

I wonder if Thomas Bore came from Herefordshire.  There’s very little online for that county at the moment, so his records might not show up.

It may be worth nudging this up once the London Metropolitan Archives reopen, as they may hold some answers, or clues.

They hold papers of John Pugh, as executor and trustee of Thomas Bore, which include:

1768 - Copy probate of Will of William Bore of Pembridge, Herefordshire

Copies of birth certificates of Mary Bore 1790; Sarah Bore 1793 and death cert. of Mary Pugh 1847

1734 Grant by Mrs.Martha Boare to son William Boare of her personal estate at Herefordshire.

The LMA holds a lot of records pertaining to the Pugh and Bore family - some are inheritance disputes.

I have a copy of Thomas Bore's Will - it's a bit hard to read but he owned a lot of houses/property around Middlesex and Essex area. I have his DC 1845. I originally thought he may have been from Ribbesford, Worcestershire but Herefordshire sounds more likely.

I'm in Australia, so I'll have to see if I can get a researcher to look a few items up for me but they aren't cheap to do so. I did follow up on the link to Worshipful Tinplate Co. and was sent a further link to look at but this place is shut too.

I found a copy of each of the Bore children BC - Thomas 1788, Mary 1790, Sarah 1793.

Sarah married John Pugh - I have both their DC. Oddly both died in the workhouse - from Cerebral Decay so maybe family didn't want to look after them.
