St Bartholomew the Less, City of London - Monumental Inscriptions query.
« on: Wednesday 05 August 20 18:47 BST (UK) »
Hello,
A long shot. The 'Greater London Burial Index' states an ancestor of mine, Thomas Wilcoxon (aka 'Wilcockson' and 'Wilkockson'), was buried in the 'Upper Part of the Church' on 14 Jul 1659. His Will describes him as a, "Gentleman" so I am hoping there just might be some form of memorial. I have tried to find a record of MIs or similar online but with no success. Am I just looking in the wrong place ? Does anybody know if any such record exists ?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

There are no transcribed MIs for this church as far as I know, and nothing in the Society of Genealogists (SoG) library catalogue, which is where you’d expect to find them listed.

The original records of the church of St Bartholomew the Less are not online. They’re deposited at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Archives (apart from a few BTs held at Guildhall Library/LMA).

Depending on your level of interest, you may want to ask the Barts archivist ...

Hi, Bookbox,
Thank you for your swift and comprehensive reply. And also the Barts archivist POC - very helpful and much appreciated.

This Thomas Wilcoxon is part of my family.
I trancribed as much of the will as I could and found it very informative.

If you do find his MI, I'd be really interested to know.
