Another workhouse question
« on: Wednesday 05 August 20 20:46 BST (UK) »
Hi all, two questions,

First does anyone know what the address below was in the 1920's. I don't know if it's a shelter, foster home or something else, I can not find any information about it.

53 Mount Pleasant Lane, Upper Clapton run by a Mrs Wren.

Second if a child went into Hackney cottage homes in the 1920's from the workhouse could the mother get the child back at a later date.

Thanks

Electoral registers
53 Mount Pleasant Lane
Frederick William Wren
Agnes Wren
Other people there, Braziers, Pearsons

Directories
Wren Frederick William, 53 Mount Pleasant Lane, Up. C

Looks like an ordinary house :)

Could mother get children back? Yes she could (might do).
Plenty of Ongar records here
