Heywood, I did find that record.  Do you know when or where she died?

She was registered M quarter 1882 Liverpool

There are 2 deaths in the same quarter for Mary Riley 0 yrs

Mary Ann in September quarter
Mary Elizabeth in December quarter. (Buried Ford cemetery 6 was old)

She could, I suppose have died any time up to 1891 census.

You could try Liverpool Catholic Burials to see if there is a record.

Added
I presume she is not with the family in 1891?

Heywood,

Thank you for your response. Mary was not in the 1881 census or the 1891 census. After researching, she was born Dec 12, 1881, baptized 24 Jan 1882, and looks like she died J/F/M 1882.

Liverpool, Lancashire, England - Great Grandfather Birth and Death Question
« Reply #12 on: Monday 10 August 20 23:02 BST (UK) »
Hi!  I am stuck and looking for some help.

My great grandfather was Joseph William Riley.  His son, my grandfather, was William Riley

Joseph William Riley: Born between 1858-1860, but I think 1858 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. I have the following census records: 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901, and 1911 on Ancestry.

His wife was Catherine Riley, (nee Stewart born in Perth, Scotland).   On my grandfathers marriage license (William Riley married my grandmother in 1924 in Canada) says that his father was born in Ireland and wife was born in Scotland. Not sure if my great grandfather was born in Ireland or England? I am assuming England.

His son, my grandfather, William Riley was born August 9, 1899, in West Derby, Lancashire, England. I have his birth certificate stating his father and mothers names so they are confirmed.

Joseph Riley was in the 1901 census record as head of household.  In the 1911 Census Record, it shows his wife Catherine Riley as a widow so it appears he died between 1901 and 1911.  They were living in West Derby, Lancashire, England.  I cannot find a date or where he died.  Have tried to research events going on around that time with no success.

Any advice or help is appreciated!

Terri

If you have him on all censuses and his birthplace is Liverpool on them all - then he was born in Liverpool.

If his birthyear is about 1858 and you have him on the 1861 & 1871 censuses he is presumably with his parents?

Do you have his 1879 marriage cert to Catherine - father is shown as Christopher - deceased - occ fruiterer.  Joseph is shown as a mariner

What about the 1906 death in West Derby - www.freebmd.org.uk.  If not him - have you considered he may have died at sea?

Are you aware there is a tree on Ancestry showing his birthdate as 22.2.1858 and a lot of other info about the family
