Interpretation of record 1870s
« on: Thursday 06 August 20 21:47 BST (UK) »
I have this death notice from 1915

b]An India Mutiny Veteran[/b] - The death took place on Saturday night of Mr William Alfred Williams, Pond Lane, at the age of 81 years. He joined the 18th Hussars and served through the Indian Mutiny. Among his family are two sons who are on active service.

military numbers are recorded on his burial entry
Military veteran 22685 G5/00646

I attach a record for William Williams of the 18th hussars which I think must be him but some time after the Indian Mutiny.

Can anyone tell me, are those figures just relating to pay?
Is there any indication in them as to when he joined and where he went?  (Other than Birmingham  ;)

I think it’s his pension. From 1870.

The actual record.  Too big to add both to the one message

The number for the man I have attached is recorded as G5 8414 which is different to the one at the burial of my man.

And according to the indexing he was born “ Famath, Warwick”. Which I hope is really Tamworth but WHERE on the document are those words?

Also...those figures/words above his age of 33... are they previous regiments?  Can anyone read them?
